Banana Cue Recipe. Banana Cue is one of the best Filipino merienda. This 3 ingredient recipe is affordable and easy to make. A ripe bananas cooked in oil and glazed with caramelized brown sugar and thread with a bamboo skewer. Banana cue are often sold by street vendors in the streets and they are commonly located near the school campus. It’s an all-time snack favorite of Pinoy Students paired with cold soft drinks. A delicious and yet affordable snacks.
Banana cue Ingredients:
- 1 cup oil
- 6 ripe Saba bananas, peeled
- ¼ cup palm or dark brown sugar
- 3 bamboo skewers
Banana cue Cooking Instructions:
- Heat the oil in a large frying pan and add the bananas one at a time. Immediately sprinkle brown sugar evenly on each banana. Cook over medium heat until bananas are tender for about 8 minutes, stirring constantly. As they cook the sugar will caramelized and form a glaze, stir to coat the all bananas. Drain excess oil in banana leaves or waxed paper. Thread bananas on skewers and serve while its hot.

If you want a thicker glaze just add and sprinkle some more sugar.
