How to make a delicious and refreshing salad drink recipe.
Mango Sago’t Gulaman Recipe. This is one of Pinoy’s favorite salad drink dessert. It’s a perfect blend of fresh sweet mangoes, chewy sago and gulaman with a sweet, creamy milk syrup from evaporated milk, cream and condensed milk. This salad drink is very easy to prepare, all you have to do is cook the sago and gulaman separately. Cut the mangoes and gulaman into cubes and mix all ingredients and chill. Mango Sago’t Gulaman is best serve when it’s chilled.
Our First dessert recipe with sago is “Mango Sago’t Gulaman,” and we’ll be making more of this kind this summer. I choose Mango because it’s in season right now and it’s very affordable. We’re going to take advantage of mangoes, while the price is right 🙂 So let’s start …

Procedure:
- Let’s prepare our condiments: First, you need to cook your sago, we need a half cup of big raw sago and cook in 1 liter of boiling water for 20 minutes. Drain, rinse several times, soak in water and keep chill for at least 8 hrs. Reboil for 15 minutes, and leave sago covered for another 30 minutes. Rinse and soak in water, and it’s ready to use.
- And for the gulaman, we’re going to cook a firm gulaman but if you prefer a softer gulaman adjust and add more water needed. But for this recipe, we need 1 (25g) sachet unflavored yellow gulaman, 3½ cups of water and 1/3 cup of sugar. Combine in pot and stir until gulaman powder and sugar dissolved. Bring to a boil, while stirring continuously and pour it in any container and let it cool down. Chill and cut into cubes and set aside.
- Let’s prepare our Mangoes: Wash, slice three medium mangoes into cubes and one mango cut into dice for toppings, and set aside. Don’t throw mango seeds, scrape the meat and puree, add water, 2 tbsp. of sugar and stir. (We need at least 2 cups of mango juice, but this is optional)
- Let’s make our Mango Sagot Gulaman: In a large bowl, pour in chilled Crema-Asada, evaporated and sweetened condensed milk and stir until well blended. Add in, cooked gulaman, sago and mango cubes and mix well. Chill for at least an hour before serving.
- Let’s prepare our Whipped Cream: In a mixing bowl, combine ½ cup frosty whip cream powder and ¾ cup cold mango juice. Let the powder soak for a sec., and whip on medium until frothy, then whip on high until double in volume and soft peaks form.
- Let’s Assemble our Mango Sagot Gulaman: In a tall glass or plastic cups, fill cups at least 2/3’s full of mango sago’t gulaman, add whipped cream on top and diced mangoes. Serve and Enjoy!
Here’s Our Simple Ingredients: Sweet Mangoes, Sago, Yellow Gulaman, Crema-Asada, Evaporated Milk & Condensed Milk. Feel free, to use your favorite and trusted brands. You can also use a store-bought pre-cooked sago and gulaman at grocery or wet market to save time.
This recipe is for personal consumption only and if you’re planning on selling it, cook gulaman in 1 liter of water with 1/2 cup of sugar. And add 3 cups of water and sugar to the mixture. You can put whipped cream on top if you want to elevate your mango sago’t gulaman. You can use All-Purpose Cream if you don’t have frosty whip cream.
Keep refrigerated and store mango sago’t gulaman in an airtight container, this will last for four days. Sago is like a sponge, it will absorb most of the milk and if that happens, add a cup of evaporated milk and stir. You can also pour leftovers in a popsicle molder and freeze until frozen this lasts longer. If you don’t have a popsicle molder, pour it in small plastic cups, sealed with foil and insert popsicle sticks in the center and freeze.
We are done with our mango salad drink, what’s next? Who wants some refreshing Coconut? I bet, you already know what’s on my mind. Yes, we’re going to make a Buko Pandan Salad Drink :p Ok bye for now, off to buy some coconuts, thanks for visiting guys and see you on my next post. Take care and have a wonderful day 🙂
