How to cook Minatamis na Saging (Sweetened Banana) Recipe.
Minatamis na Saging (Sweetened Banana) Recipe. A traditional Filipino dessert recipe, sweetened banana plantain “Saba” stewed in dark sugar syrup, vanilla essence and evaporated milk and top with crushed ice. It can also be used as condiments in Halo-Halo recipe.
Minatamis na Saging (Sweetened Banana) Ingredients:
- 4 pcs. ripe Saba or ripe Plantain
- 1cup dark brown sugar packed
- 1½ cups water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- crushed ice, (optional)
- milk, (optional)
Cooking Instructions:
- Slice each banana into bite-sized pieces. Combine brown sugar and water in a pan and bring to boil until sugar dissolves. Add the sliced bananas and turn the heat on low and simmer for about 25 minutes. Skim off any impurities that rise on top and discard. Simmer until becomes thick and light syrup then turn off the heat. Stir in vanilla essence and let it cool. Serve warm sweetened banana with syrup into a serving bowl. Place sweetened banana leftovers in a small clean containers and refrigerate. Served sweetened banana leftovers by adding milk and crushed ice.
If desired you can add milk and top with crushed ice. It can also be used as condiments in Halo-Halo recipe.
